Resident Artist Company

The Resident Artists of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival are a core group of actors, designers, directors, and teaching artists who bring their expertise to all of our programs. They uphold SF Shakes' artistic values and serve our mission to provide access to Shakespeare and theatre to everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status, or level of education.

Ella Ruth Francis+ Resident Artist

Ella Ruth Francis is a San Francisco-based teacher and performer who first came in contact with SF Shakes in Bay Area Shakespeare Camp when she was 6 and fell in love with the Bard's language. Her acting credits include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (SF Shakes & Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Co.), Pamela in Head Over Heels (New Conservatory Theatre), La Ronde (Cutting Ball Theater) and Jan in Grease (Berkeley Playhouse). She received a 2019 Theatre Bay Area Award for her performance as Natalie in Next to Normal (Los Altos Stage). Ella is a proud graduate of the Pacific Conservatory for Performing Arts. Garahan Sean

Sean Garahan+ Resident Artist

Sean is an actor, teaching artist, and performing arts everyman. When he’s not acting he’s either tour managing a rock band, teaching theatre to all ages, or working stage crew at a Bay Area theatre. Sean earned a BA in Theatre from Emerson College in 2008, is an EMC member of Actor’s Equity, and is a Resident Artist with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. You can follow what he’s currently working on at seangarahan.com

Akaina Ghosh

Akaina Ghosh+ Resident Artist

Akaina Ghosh trained with One Year Lease and New York Stage and Film while attending Vassar College in New York, where they received a BA in Drama as well as a BA in Philosophy. Akaina’s specialties include music composition, devised theater, and ensemble performance. Recent performances with SF Shakes include Silvius in As You Like It and Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Akaina is passionate about reconstructing historically significant narratives through a feminist lens and generating new works that center feminine and non-binary voices and perspectives. Robyn Grahn

Robyn Grahn+ Resident Artist

Robyn Grahn was last seen in the 2017 & 2018 Seasons of San Francisco Shakespeare Tour and absolutely loved it! She recently has taken on the role of Engagement Coordinator and looks forward to facilitating new community stories. She also works for the Mountain Play in Marin acting as Community Engagement Coordinator. Favorite Shakespearean roles include Adriana and the Courtesan (Comedy of Errors), Viola (Twelfth Night), Mercutio & Friar (Romeo and Juliet), and Phoebe (As You Like It). David Sarah Shoshana

Phil Lowery*+ Resident Artist

Phil is a director, actor, stage manager, teacher, and a proud member of the SF Shakes Resident Artist company, and of Actors Equity Association, and the Education Director for SF Shakespeare Festival. He has performed with Shakespeare on Tour (Macbeth) and Free Shakespeare in the Park (The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet and The Winter’s Tale), was Assistant Director for A Midsummer Night's Dream, and looks forward to performing in King Lear this summer. Other companies Phil has appeared with include Shotgun Players, Central Works Ensemble and Lamplighters Music Theatre, where he is also on staff. Phil has directed musicals, operas and operettas around the Bay Area for companies such as Altarena Playhouse, Berkeley Opera, Pocket Opera, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, and Lamplighters.

Moore David

David Everett Moore*+ Resident Artist

David is a Bay Area actor and teaching artist. A Resident Artist of the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, David has performed in numerous Free Shakespeare in the Park productions as well as the SF Shakes School Tour, and has taught in the Midnight Shakespeare program along with other in-school residencies. As an actor, David has worked with several regional and local theaters, including Crowded Fire Theater, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Marin Shakespeare Company, Word for Word, Just Theater, and Marin Theatre Company. David also teaches with Tomorrow Youth Repertory, and has worked as a Teaching Artist at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. David is a proud graduate of UC Berkeley and its Theater and Performance Studies program.

Morones

Regina Morones+ Resident Artist

Regina is a native Bay Area actor, singer, educator, a resident artist at San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and a company member at Ubuntu Theater Project. She was recently seen as Meredith in Woman Laughing Alone With Salad at Shotgun Players. Bay Area credits include Woman On Fire (Those Women Productions), Richard III, The Winter's Tale (African American Shakespeare Company), Palace Wreckers, Strange Ladies (Central Works Theater Company), A Streetcar Named Desire, Mother Courage (Ubuntu Theater Project), Love Sick (Jewish Circle Theater), Othello (Marin Shakespeare Company), and Romeo & Juliet (San Francisco Shakespeare Festival). Sydney Schwindt

Sydney Schwindt+ Resident Artist

Sydney is an actor, fight director, teaching artist, and visual artist. She joined the SF Shakes family in 2015 playing Rosalind in the tour of As You Like It. Will Shattuc

Will Shattuc+ Resident Artist

Will Shattuc is an Oakland-born director, playwright, teaching artist, and graphic designer. A SF Shakes legacy, they got their start at a 2001 camp as Marc Antony wearing a pillowcase, and have since gone on to Assistant Direct The Winter's Tale and As You Like It on our main stage and served on the 35 Speeches Committee. They are currently co-directing our upcoming tour production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. They helped found Oakland Classical Theater Co., a company dedicated to putting on free productions with under-30 artists in Oakland; their most recent production was directing Dr. Faustus by Christopher Marlowe. Will graduated from Hampshire College with a B.A., focusing on ensemble theater, and are an alumni of the Shakespeare Academy at Stratford, CT, and studied Viewpoints program at Divadlo Archa in Prague. They are inspired by the work of the Federal Theater Project under the New Deal and The Public Theater in New York and firmly believe in SF Shakespeare's mission of "Art for All!"

Phil Wong

Phil Wong+ Resident Artist

Phil Wong is an actor, musician, comedian, and teaching artist native to Oakland. Bay Area credits include work with Shotgun Players, Bay Area Children's Theatre, Quantum Dragon Theatre, Killing My Lobster, The EXIT, Palo Alto Players, The Lamplighters, Los Altos Stage, Ray of Light, Word for Word, and TheatreWorks. He is graduate of Oberlin College and received his physical theatre training at the Accademia dell' Arte in Arezzo, Italy. He has also written music for various SF Shakes productions including Shakespeare on Tour's Twelfth Night, The Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the upcoming As You Like It musical. Phil has been a part of the Bay Area theatre scene since he was a teen and is working every day to make his art more relevant, conscientious, and empathetic.
