Advanced Shakespeare Workshop (13-18)
4-week session this summer!
For the summer of 2021, ASW students will have a unique opportunity - the chance to work on Kenneth Cavander's modern verse translation of Shakespeare's late play Timon of Athens , developed by Play On in association with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. SF Shakes has been given special access to this beautiful script, which takes Shakespeare's text, keeps all the beauty of the poetry, and makes the plot and language clearer for modern ears. Participants in this online conservatory-style program will explore the language and themes of this startlingly relevant fable of philanthropy and misanthropy.
The Advanced Shakespeare Workshop also provides intensive voice, movement, text and monologue work. The program culminates in an online performance, to which family and friends are invited.
Enrollment in the program requires previous acting experience and a successful audition. (Returning ASW actors are not required to audition - simply email us to request the enrollment link.)
AUDITION SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN JUNE 25,
Please email a video of your 60-90 second, memorized Shakespeare speech, filmed against a clean background. Please check to make sure you can be heard and seen clearly before sending. Audition videos will be reviewed in the order received and offers will be made on a first-come, first served basis. If you have not heard back within a week of submitting your video, please email us.
- This 4-week program meets July 5-July 30, M-F, 10am-3pm (PST).
The fee for all four weeks is $1095.
Scholarship assistance is available for families in need.
