Upstart Crows is our summer camp for teens aged 13-18 who are ready to get into the act and have some fun performing Shakespeare! They'll acquire and develop acting abilities, learn about Shakespeare's language, bond with their fellow cast members, and develop their own individual performance style.
Our professional teaching artists are ready to utilize all that they've learned over the past year to make this summer's virtual camp sessions as memorable and enriching as ever!
Upstart Crows Campers will:
- Explore Shakespeare’s text, themes and language
- Enhance their performance abilities
- Expand their vocal and movement skills
- Learn advanced stage combat
- Develop audition technique... and more!
Pericles leaves home and embarks on an epic journey filled with jousting competitions, pirates and the wild watery seas. He embarks on his own hero's journey, finding love and family along the way. An epic tale, written later in Shakespeare’s life, about family, loss, shipwrecks and most importantly…...PIRATES!
This summer Upstart Crows sessions meet for 3 weeks, Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm with a one-hour lunch break.
Session 2: June 28-July 16
Session 3: No longer accepting enrollments
A sample schedule for 13-18-year-olds looks like this:
10-10:50 am - Warm-up, Voice & Movement
10:50-11 am - Break
11 am -12 pm - Acting Shakespeare (on Zoom)
12-1 pm - Lunch break
1-3 pm - Monologue work and rehearsal (with 10-minute break)
Upstart Crows also benefit from visiting guest instructors and asynchronous videos to further challenge and enhance their experience.
All 3 weeks for $750!
