Free Shakespeare in the Park operates under a LORT D, LOA contract, and employ a mix of Equity and non-Equity actors. Shakespeare on Tour is a non-Equity program. The Shakespeare Festival holds open auditions for both programs in December and posts upcoming auditions through Theatre Bay Area. Actors may also send a head shot and résumé to the attention of Rebecca J. Ennals, Artistic Director, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, PO Box 460937 San Francisco CA 94146 or email@example.com.
Our 2020 Season General auditions will be held December 9 (Equity/EMC) and 10 (Non-Equity), 2019, at Moonspace, 250 Van Ness Ave. We will begin taking appointments after November 1 at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not email before that date. On or after that date, please email with resume, headshot, and preferred date and time. We are committed to inclusive casting practices, and actors of all genders and races will be considered for all roles. Please share the pronouns you use, whether you are a member of AEA or EMC, and if you are comfortable doing so, whether you identify as an Artist of Color. Please also let us know if you have any access needs we should be aware of in the audition space. We will be casting replacements for the current Tour production of Macbeth, directed by Anne Yumi Kobori, as well as casting the 2020 Free Shakespeare in the Park production (tba) and 2020-21 Shakespeare on Tour production (tbd).
Please keep in mind that the Shakespeare Festival is unable to process requests for auditions through the mail, nor do we accept video submissions for first-time auditions. Please also note that the Festival does not provide housing for actors outside the Bay Area. We are strongly committed to using local Bay Area talent.
