An interactive, virtual learning program for the classroom or home school!

Playshops for Virtual Educators and Remote Learners

Virtual Playshops are for educators looking to energize their Zoom classrooms with the power of live performance. Learning about Shakespeare is more fun, authentic, and engaging when SF Shakes expert teaching artists transform your remote classroom into an interactive virtual stage!

Virtual Playshops are for:

  • English, History, and Theatre Arts Teachers
  • Home school parents/teachers/tutors
  • Learning pods
  • Any educator teaching about Shakespeare and his works
  • Lifelong learners who love learning about Shakespeare just for fun!

SF Shakes is proud to introduce Virtual Playshops, a live, interactive, performance-based way for students to experience the language and themes of Shakespeare. In this virtual hour-long class, our experienced teaching artists will get students on their feet speaking Shakespeare’s language and exploring his timeless themes. The teaching artists at SF Shakes are professional performers with months of experience teaching and performing in the virtual realm.

Key features of Virtual Playshops include:

  • Warm ups: waking up the voice and body
  • Full participation: including group and individual activity
  • Game-based activities: encouraging teamwork and collaboration
  • Language exploration: giving each student the chance to speak Shakespeare’s words
  • Personal exploration: making Shakespeare your own

Customize your Virtual Playshop!

Our Playshops include text from several of Shakespeare's plays, but we can customize to any play you're studying.  If you prefer us to use language from a specific play, please let us know on the request form.

Introductory fee schedule:
Each Virtual Playshop accommodates up to 16 students (maximum) for only $180 or up to 32 students (2 concurrent groups of 16 maximum) for $270. (Note: to receive the 2 Playshop discount, both groups must be scheduled at the same time.)
Playshops are generally available on weekdays during typical school days, between 8am and 5pm Pacific Time.

Hosting/Monitoring
We host directly from our own secure Zoom account or if required we can use your school's account.
A person acting as monitor will also be needed during the Playshop to:
- ensure that student microphones/cameras are on (or off) as needed
- provide assistance with an unstable zoom connection
- verify that intended participants are present
- maintain appropriate behaviors and language
Ideally the monitor will be a teacher from your school, but we can provide a monitor if requested.

Send your booking request NOW and have your students saying "I didn't know Shakespeare was so much fun!"
